1. Who will you be using as your models for each photograph
For LUMÉ, I plan to use models who represent a diverse range of styles and social groups to reflect the inclusivity of modern fashion. This will include both male and female models, with different sexualities and fashion aesthetics such as streetwear and high-fashion. Using peers and young adults within the target audience age group (16-25) will help create a relatable and authentic feel.
2. What thought needs to be given to the following elements of mise-en-scene?
- Location: The main shoots will take place in two contrasting locations: an urban street setting to capture everyday fashion (hoping for snow) and a studio environment with controlled lighting for a more polished, editorial look.
- Costume: Outfits will be carefully styled to highlight seasonal trends, such as layering, fluffy items like fur and bold accessories, ensuring they communicate LUMÉ’s identity as a cutting-edge fashion magazine.
- Props: Minimal props will be used, though items like fashion accessories, chairs, or mirrors could add dimension to studio shoots.
- Body Language: Models will adopt poses that are confident and expressive, ranging from casual candid shots to powerful, high-fashion stances.
- Lighting: Natural lighting will be used for outdoor shoots to create an authentic, vibrant look, while studio shoots will use soft lighting to highlight textures, fabrics and styling details.
3. Who will be taking your photographs and what equipment will they use?
I will be using myself to take the photographs using my digital camera and my phone (canon, olympus camera and an iphone 14) to get a mix of contrast of high-quality images and a natural look for more candid relaxed scenes. I will take photos across different the two or more different scenes and settings, then select the strongest images to feature in both the magazine and website.
